fool on the hill

I'm really busy this afternoon, but a real-life Paul had to point me in the direction of something that I was completely unaware of.

Apparently both Brian Epstein and Paul McCartney died in 1966. Who knew? I had no idea? Apparently the bobblehead who played over the weekend was actually Faul (False Paul) McCartney! I'm serious! I wouldn't kid about such matters!

Read all about it here. Yoko and George were even in on it!! Look at the visual evidence comparing photos of different sizes from different decades! Wow!

keanely unaware

Can someone please explain to me the plodding appeal of Keane? I seriously don't get it. It's three guys wailing about heartache but sounding entirely apathetic and cold. I like both bands that these lads want to channel (Coldplay and Ben Folds) but they really are too sterile to have the edge that the desperately long for.

soy sauce and wite-out

From the "you can't be serious" files comes Homaro Cantu and his paper feast. At $240/person I think you should get to take the printer home, too. At least some ink cartridges...

a disturbance of millions

Has anyone seen "Million Dollar Baby" yet? I was contemplating it but had no idea what kind of plot twist Dirty Harry had up his sleeve. I'm glad Steph gave me warning. The publicity around the film has certainly been huge but entirely devoid of spoilers. Weird. Anybody? Does it take up a large portion of the film?

If you don't know what I'm talking about and don't mind ruining the film you can read this...

toxic idol

Flipping through the channels while getting ready this morning I stumbled upon the Top 10 countdown on VH-1. I did a double, no, a triple-take when I suddenly realized what I was looking at. Apparently you take one shot of a "nice" American Idol, add a little nose ring, a new stylist, a lot of guitar and a bit of Avril and you end up with this.

Oddly, I find it disturbingly catchy.

why being a cop must be fun

I have to fill out timesheets to explain what I'm billing on a daily basis. It's full of fun things like -

Worked with Client X on troubleshooting network issues with Verity server

I never get to type things like -

13:27:58 -"I'LL BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF YOU"

Yep, doesn't this sound like fun?

i've seen the future

Before I go on with hyperbole and stories of goosebumps and screaming, did anyone else happen to catch The Arcade Fire last night on Conan?

Holy... crap...

Too bad last night's Webster Hall and tonight's Irving Plaza shows both were quickly sold out.

Well, I guess technically it's also too bad that Webster Hall is literally completely and totally wheelchair-proof. They once gave me some line about "we're always happy to carry wheelchair patrons up the stairs." Uh. No thanks.

Fortunately several other fine NYC bloggers were in attendance.

On a somewhat related note, I was given permission today by my doctor to venture forth into the city again. Loooook out!

party like it's 1984

This ACLU ad might be a bit heavy-handed but it's not far from the truth and is certainly a fun watch.

random steals

* Go give Fox News babe Michelle Malkin a piece of your mind about her recent entry regarding SUV bias and the poor disabled guy in the Bronx who got hit by one of those Mitsubishi behemoths. Nevermind that you can't see anything low in front of you. It's a Left Wing conspiracy. (via Gawker)

* Something to remember should you ever find yourself trapped in the snow with a pony keg. (via Vernam)

* An oldie but a goodie. A scary Lego church that has crazy lady written all over it. I admire the dedication, though. (via memepool)
