living in less than perfect eharmony

So I'm still going through the motions with eHarmony. I've actually got some intresting things open right now. However, I wanted to involve my public with a couple of thoughts.

First, one of the questions is about the last good book that you've read. Am I wrong, hateful and entirely off-base for rejecting someone just because the list "The DaVinci Code" as their favorite?

Second, the point of the whole exercise is to "meet" online. I've gotten to "Open Communication" with one woman who simply sent me a simple note and her phone number. I've sent her a couple of e-mails subsequently with no response. She hasn't closed the contact so she's not suddenly uninterested but, yet, I feel weird calling someone I know NOTHING about, really. Seems like it might not be worth it. Yet, should I? If so, how long is "too long" to have waited after she sent me her number.

So? C'mon!

I would think that "The DaVinci Code" is better than, say, "Emanuel Law Outlines: Torts".

Um, you are such a book snob. It's just good that she reads. Even if it is mass market stuff. If you limit yourself to other intellectual, hipster snobs, well.... you're gonna be lonely. Don't get me wrong, I'm as big of a snob as the next girl, but sometimes, you have to compromise.

...And call her, for fuck's sake. Not everyone is as comfortable with typed communication. I personally, much prefer speaking on the phone to email or, god forbid, text messaging!

Signed your friend,
Daniella
Who has read the Devil Wears Prada, happily listens to Abba and the BeeGees (not ironically, either!) and sometimes shops at Target -- and I don't call it Tar-jhay!

I have a new theme song, I think! Remember that awful Bonnie Tyler song "Holding on For A Hero?" Let's rename it "Holding on For A Hipster!!!"

I'm with Daniella... just be glad that she reads. The DaVinci Code wasn't a bad book... it just got a lot of hype. I'd be more concerned about the fact that it came out over 20 months ago and maybe that's the only book she's read in the last year and a half.
Second, did you tell the "open communication" woman that you're uncomfortable calling her? Maybe she's just a poor typist... or only has email access from work. I don't know what the statute of living on calling her is... maybe three weeks?

I agree with K.Britt, but I have not read Davinci Code yet. It is on my list of things to read. So I can't fault this girl if she just read it, or better yet maybe she hasn't found a book that has peaked her interest since Davinci Code yet. She could be looking for the right guy to help her find a good book. Dig deeper my old man you have nothing to waste but time. As far as the girl with a number. CALL HER!! She would much rather hear your wit then read it. I have told you are better in person then on this damn thing. SO call her. Do not make come and put a foot in your ass.
