I just saw this a few min ago too. There was also a story in the Mirror about an astronaut who cast his ballot from space, which is pretty cool.
I can't even comment further on the cover. I don't have to.

Bush ran a better campaign. Move on to a better battle.

I may well be dumb, I am dyslexic after all. I prefer my water directly from the tap and not in a bottle. I like pop music (80's pop is even better). I regularly work off the clock. I let my child eat candy, McDonald's, wheat, peanut butter, and drink pop. I don't have an ipod. I drive a 15 year old car and like it. I don't have a bachelor's degree and that is fine with me. I am not a vegetarian. I don't take Prozac. I buy store brands when shopping. I haven't been to a "grown up" movie in a movie theater in 6 months (G and PG only). At the end of the day when I go to bed (before the 11pm news), I know that I am living my life the best that I can and wouldn't change a thing!! If you all think I am dumb for voting for Bush that is fine with me!! I don't care what you think.

I was going to take your bait, Christy. However I decided better of it. I choose love.

I'm glad you are happy with your life, Christy. That's what we should all strive for.

For the record I think pop music generally is lame, I *heart* my iPod, I think that McDonald's is the antichrist (oh, wait, I'm an atheist), think tap water tastes like ass, I have a college education, am a vegetarian, find that designer brands last longer, stay up really late and watch a lot of films. But I love people, I don't hate, and that's why I love my life.

Maybe you're right. Maybe I should be on Prozac.

If your definition of "better" is one based on lies, fear-mongering, misrepresentation and character assassination, the yes, Bush ran a "better" campaign.

Christie, I don't think you're dumb, and I don't know from dyslexia. I would never try dictating to you, your child, or anyone else such personal choices as music, food, drink, car, medication, movies, when to sleep, etc. In fact, the only thing I would even consider trying to dictate to anyone is that they not dictate personal choices to other people.

It's unfortunate that some progressives -- me, included, I'm sad to say -- have been so frustrated with Bush that we've expressed ourselves in ways that make some people feel inferior or otherwise threatened. In no way do I consider myself better than you. Not to be presumptuous, but am I correct in assuming you know Mike from having lived near each other in Georgia? I lived in Knoxville for many years and originally chose to move there because I have such deep respect and love for Southern culture, especially music. The South has sometimes been on the wrong side -- the VERY wrong side -- of progress in America, and unfortunately there is still a serious strain of intolerance that runs through politics as practiced in those states. But politics in Chicago, for example, aren't so pure either, despite the near-total lack of Republicans here. There is plenty to be ashamed of on both sides, politically speaking.

It's a cliche, but what we have in common is far, far deeper than what divides us. Campaign officials get paid big bucks to identify and exploit issues that make it seem our differences are vast, insurmountable. If that were really the case, political disputes in America would result not in voting but in violence. We're not at that stage yet and hopefully never will be. It's up to all of us, on each side, to respect the others' points of views, lifestyles, and other personal decisions as the founding fathers intended.

Mike, I was not intending any of that to be a "hate". I am just stating that I could be called dumb for a number of reasons. It's not the first time I have been called Dumb and I am sure it will not be the last!!

VC- I live in Portage, Michigan.

I also am sorry for the way I overreacted in the last argument. It has bothered me for months!
I am sorry there was no excuse for that.

We have a lot more in common than we think. I wish we could connect over those things instead of being labeled and turned into caricatures and turned against each other.

I'm down with the group hug. Ya'll make me weepy.

But I have to say, it shows average americans, if we are representative of same, are far more magnanimous than Bush. Witness yesterday's press conference. He stated he has political collateral now and he means to spend it. Not a very kumbai-ya moment, in my book. The guy is still a zealot. I hope those of you who voted for Bush will join us in honestly evaluating what he tries to do with his 'mandate.' That's all I ask.

That moment passed last night. Now I'm all pissed again. ;^)

Yeah, my favorite quote was: "I'll reach out to everyone who shares our goals."

My favorite is when he chatized the reporter for asking a follow-up and then said "I guess you didn't listen to the will of the people."

Hey, asshole. Gloat much? That, dear readers, the W. definition of fostering unity.
