Anybody who doesn't believe that this is going to be the greatest post-season series of at least the last 25 years doesn't know baseball. This, my friends, is insane.
Posted by mikewolf at October 12, 2004 11:16 PMFrontrunner! ;^) I don't see how Boston can win the series without Schilling healthy, but baseball is all about weird stuff disproving the conventional wisdom.
Posted by: VC on October 12, 2004 11:36 PMErr. You are aware of the fact that I DESPISE the Yankees, right?
I don't know. The Boston offense is pretty damn potent. When you can spot the Yankees eight runs and then decide to work your way back into it...
Posted by: mrw on October 12, 2004 11:58 PMthe question is, what are you going to watch tonight?
Posted by: jason on October 13, 2004 06:43 PMWell, I'll watch (am watching, actually) the first hour of the game. Then I'll switch over to the debate. The problem, though, is that it's hard to monitor the score of the game and watch the debate. There aren't really any pauses unless you count every single second that Bush speaks. But that may just be me...
Posted by: mrw on October 13, 2004 08:16 PMSpeaking of debates & baseball, I'm surprised Bush, when asked what mistakes he's made, didn't again bring up trading Sammy Sosa.
And now that the Cubbies gave up on Swingin' Sammy, are you considering Mets-alliegance?
Since you hate the best team in baseball, ever, and all....
Posted by: deano on October 14, 2004 12:57 AMEver up-to-the-minute, my "frontrunner" comment was prompted by the Boston rally in Game 1. We all saw how that ended up! So I sort of regret piling on, especially after yesterday's loss. Then I remember how you dissed my Sox for hiring Ozzie, and je ne regrette rien. ;^)
Unbelievably, the NY/Boston series was not Fox's primary game yesterday in Chicago. Free tv viewers got Cards/Astros instead, on the theory that Cub fans wanted to see that. The ALCS aired on cable-only Fox Sports Net. Bad call.
Posted by: VC on October 14, 2004 12:53 PMIt's going to be nowhere as great as last year's, which was the best I've ever seen.
And when are we going to Cooperstown?
