Consensus seems to be a good ol' porkpie hat. Thanks to Vernam for the link to the disturbingly named but well stocked Hats in the Belfry.
What's the vote? The contenders are...
or
my pick, the Diamond Crown Fedora in olive(basically a fedora with a smaller brim)
I know!! Maybe the Tarbucket?
Like the fedora, don't like the ribbon. It's kinda cheap looking in the photo. But one thought:
Much like my beloved Cory, you have a big melon. A skull of epic proportions.
No offense, I just calls 'em likes I sees 'em. Perhaps a hat might not be your cup-o-tea.
Maybe go with the kangol? I generally dislike them on white guys, but I think you could pull it off. Just be sure to wear your Samuel L Jackson attitude with it.
Posted by: K.Britt on October 9, 2004 10:32 PMGo down to J&J Hat Center in Midtown, near the Empire State. They'll hook you up.
Posted by: Frankenstein on October 9, 2004 11:23 PMI'm outraged!
Kirsten hems and haws about my Kangol wearing days, then turns around and says it's a good look for you...ha!
Flip-Flopper.
Oh yeah, I agree...the Kangol's the way to go. Black would do nicely.
Posted by: Cory on October 10, 2004 04:04 AMFor the record and not intending to slight anyone -- I will NEVER wear a Kangol. Just not my style.
Posted by: mrw on October 10, 2004 08:28 AMI like your fave, Mike. And I agree-no kangol for you!
You'll know what is truly the best after you go trysome on.
I am also in a hat wearing mood this season. I have only bought one so far-a fabulous little boucle number!
Posted by: Holly on October 10, 2004 02:08 PMI wear a leather pork pie myself in the winter. Flexible brim that can be turned up or down at either or both ends. I likes it. Don't know your head well enough to make a suggestion Mike, but when you find Your Hat, you will know.
Posted by: Jim on October 10, 2004 07:05 PMIf you haven't made the plunge yet, let me know and I'll go with you to try on hats. I could *possibly* be convinced to *maybe* purchase one for myself...I'm partial to the tarbucket but do you think it would look right on me? (I'm also oddly fascinated by the other miltary hat offerings..those two spike helments are sweet!)
