* "The Delivery Man," Elvis' new album, isn't really doing much for me. There are a couple of great songs but most of it just washes over me. I just can't put my finger on it. It's almost like the songs are two dense and don't feel important. That probably makes little sense but it's about the best I can come up with. It's not bad. It's just a patchwork of past glories that combined don't add up to much when listening. Maybe it'll grow on me.
* Went to see Nick Lowe last night. Brilliant. His long-time keyboard player and pal Geraint Watkins opened and, as usual, was jaw-dropping. Can you imagine playing "Johnny B. Goode" on the piano? Nick's set was kinda short but it made for a fun night that didn't last too late and I was able to get this cool shirt.
* Run out and buy the new expanded "London Calling." Seriously. It sounds simply amazing.
* Anybody have Verizon Wireless? What kind of phone do you have? Do you like it? I want to get rid of my crappy LG but have to stick with Verizon.
* I'm laying low this weekend? How 'bout you?
Posted by mikewolf at September 24, 2004 12:08 PMMe? Kerry tabling Saturday and hosting a Missouri phone bank @ slipping acres on Sunday. I can't help being a kerry boy scout right now. At least after the phone bank, I get to show off our koi to fresh victims, er, new faces.

Posted by: Holly on September 25, 2004 09:34 AMThx for asking! This weekend I'm trying to throw together a new web site on insanely short notice. More precisely, I'm stalling by reading blogs of various friends. The actual web inspiration will probably strike about 1:00am, as history indicates. Lots of procrastination first. MS IM is garritano@gmail.com if you get bored. ;^) Tomorrow I've got a little but well-paid gig as a duo w/ Joel on fiddle/harp/mando.
The EC album is growing on me -- much less brittle than WIWC. None of it sounds _essential_ just yet, but I've enjoyed each listen.
Missed Nick in Chicago recently. Do you get Trio on cable? They've been running a best of Montreux w/ Nick (featuring Geraint w/ Bill Kirchen), Marianne Faithful, and Van Morrison. I think it was recorded after Impossible Bird.
