I once gladly shook the hand of Zell Miller. Once I even voted for him. That was a long time ago and he was an entirely different man. Now as a zealous, lame-duck senator he is a Democrat in name only. The transformation is jarring and frightening. Watch this video. I find the tenacity with which he attacks the GOP and Bush the Elder to be inspiring. Now he simply makes my skin crawl.
Most of my readers are in Georgia, a very solid red state. Is this even being discussed there or has he become some sort of folk hero? He was once called Zig Zag Zell for wavering on positions when he was the governor. If they only knew...
Posted by mikewolf at August 30, 2004 06:02 PMI'm not in GA, as you well know, but once I lived within spitting distance. Attended a meeting at the Gov's mansion and saw Ol' Zell hold forth back when he was still a self-respecting Dem. His office had a figurine of a turtle on a fencepost -- you know the old saying, I'm sure. What a tool he turned out to be.
Posted by: Vernam on August 31, 2004 01:16 AMI am looking forward to his speech tonight. Any democrat that gets invited to the other side to speak. He has to have something great to say. Weather it is true or night.
Posted by: Brad on September 1, 2004 09:36 PMThey showed a clip here of him accusing Kerry of flip-flopping. Talk about your Pot, Kettle, Black! Here's a man who changed practically EVERY SINGLE POSITION he has.
