viva la revolution

I managed to make it in to see the reading of Steve Earle's play "Karla" on Sunday. It was a very powerful piece of work and the acting was simply phenomenal. It was, I guess, much more than I expected.

I also got to spend a few minutes with Steve to chat about his new album and radio show and whatnot. He bemoaned the fact that the NY Post gave his new album a four-star review ("I usually just try to piss 'em off") and told me that he's taping episodes of his Air America show in rapid succession before he sets off to tour in support of the new album.

More importantly his new album, "The Revolution Starts... Now" is released today. As politically charged and urgent as some of his past work has felt, this album is clearly born of frustration and rage. It's also damn brilliant.

yeah the revolution starts now
in your own backyard
in your own hometown
so what you doin' standin' around?
just follow your heart
the revolution starts now

-Yours for the motherfuckin' revolution,
Steve Earle
