i'm with you on the modest mouse. i listened to the new polly jean on the treadmill (dry and rid of me are really good for that), hoping for the best, but it ain't doing it for me so far. another couple listens may change my mind, though.

I too am glad to see you giving the Mouse another go. I haven't heard the new one yet though.

I'm sure people are going to bash the new Wilco, but it's rooting its way into my subconscious quite nicely. Mike, if you want to try before you buy (for once!), they're streaming it (QT) at http://www.wilcoworld.net.

Did you see 'em on Letterman last night? Tweedy was all frontman-like, sans guitar, prancing around. Kinda fun. The band still sounds great, no matter how many people come and go. The best compliment I can think of is that the newer stuff tends to be so dense and imaginative (at its best) that it makes his older recordings almost unlistenable.

matt pond PA...my new favorite record of the year. Saw them last night at Knitting Factory. Live, not as fine as the album. But only Keane could do that with their computer backing tracks. Still rocked the house (yes, gently).
