Am I the only one religiously setting my PVR for "Rocked with Gina Gershon" in IFC? It certainly ain't great rock 'n' roll but it's highly, highly entertaining. It's a show of crazy dichotomies. The music is both elementary and interesting. Gina herself comes off as both cool and a gigantic pain in the ass. The devotion of her fans is simultaneously creepy and touching. Highly recommended. As always, check your local listings.

Methinks Mikey's got a little thing for Gina Gershon. She leaves a movie and then Mike loses interest in it. She joins a rock band, and he's enamoured. Anyone else notice this little trend?
Well, duh...
Posted by: mrw on April 27, 2004 08:26 AMSo is this a series? I caught a couple of snippets and assumed it was a single docu film. Her singing isn't bad, actually.
Mike, that foot on your Patti Smith album thumbnnail (toenail?) is seriously giving me the creeps.
Posted by: Vernam on April 27, 2004 12:14 PMSaw "her band" at Pianos a while back. It wasn't nearly as bad as it could have been. She is a wonderful beauty. But what is it with the Jew's harp?
Posted by: Linus on April 27, 2004 12:53 PMOh, it's not nearly as bad as it could have been. She tries too hard to do a Chrissie Hynde gravel-vibrato thing but she's a better guitarist than I am (of course I haven't picked mine up since I moved...) and she's got great stage presence.
They've yet to show a Jew's harp, I think. That is odd, though...
Posted by: mrw on April 27, 2004 09:27 PMStage presence? Ah. Not in a live venue, at least not that night. But she's expert at emoting for the cameras, of course. Real rock is more like theatre, with a different attack on the stage.
She played Jew's harp at Pianos, and it was odd. Then a few weeks later I was watching "Bound" and she plays one in there too. Larry Wachowski's comment on it was simply that it was a "Gina thing."
