it's all about da liberals, mon

I really am rooting for Air America, the new oxycontin-free talk radio network. I thought I'd tune in Al Franken when I was out running errands this afternoon so I got online to see where I could find them on the radio.

We only have a couple of stations in Fairfield County. We really rely on radio from NYC. As you might imagine the radio dial is also a pretty crowded place. I determined that 1190 AM is where I could find the brilliantly titled O'Franken Factor but his broadcast seemed to consist of static and bleed-through from other stations. Why, you ask? Well, Air America didn't really go all out for a glamour station in the liberal capitol of the country. WJIB AM 1190 formerly billed itself as "Caribbean Hits and More!" They seem more geared toward Beenie Man than the voice of reason.

Oh, well. There's always the RealAudio stream...

Not yesterday - they were swamped with users. I eventually gave up trying to connect.

Out here, they say we'll get the radio program next week.

Got the same fade-out and static problem here in Chicago. Air America has taken over a Spanish language station. Have they moved into formerly ethnic staions in all markets? I wouldn't think that a smart move.

Good news is that streaming audio is working this morning.

In Portland they took over one of the 3 or 4 oldies stations, so I doubt anybody's gonna miss it. But it's not like I can get it up here, though. I'm surprised Seattle hasn't been hooked up yet.

Audio stream, here I come.

What's weird is I could get reception today in Norwalk which is further from Manhattan than my house. I'm not sure how well Franken's going to do. His deadpan is brilliant but not entirely engaging via radio.
