"Oh, cripes! Not another 'Lost in Translation' entry!
Um. The behind-the-scenes documentary on the DVD features Bill Murray doing a goofy dance to "Alison" in a fluffy hotel bathrobe. It's a wonder to behold. As is his iPod Beatles debate with Scarlett.
Posted by mikewolf at February 04, 2004 09:36 PMI'm going to see this again at a discount theater next week. Surprised? I don't actually hate it, I just hate that it's been overhyped.
Posted by: LadyCrumpet on February 5, 2004 09:17 AMI agree, actually. I trekked into the city to see it on its opening weekend and it very slowly spread until it was a virtual hype machine. I enjoyed it a lot more when it was my little secret. Each time I watch it I do see more flaws. However, on some level the pace, mood and story speak to me. I dunno. Your mileage may vary.
Posted by: mrw on February 5, 2004 10:01 AMOne thing I do appreciate is that Sofia Coppola has a great ear for soundtracks. I want to check out the soundtracks and scores for Virgin Suicides - don't know if there's only a soundtrack for LIT.
Posted by: LadyCrumpet on February 5, 2004 01:15 PMI'm gonna see it tomorrow at the two-dollah cinema, god willing. Oblivious to the hype, I barely have any idea what it's about. Bill Murray's in Japan, a Gaijin Man. Scarlett Johannson's in it, which can't be bad. I'll read up after seeing it, but I hate having preconceptions. MW sez it's cool? What more do I need to know? 8^)
