take a bow for the new revolution

I don't watch a lot of current television. I've not seen 24 seconds of Keifer Sutherland's blockbuster. I've witnessed more of the O.R as of late than "The O.C." I certainly don't love Raymond. I work for CSI but, alas, I've never sat through the show.

That changed a bit tonight. I was in the middle of exercising when C.S.I.: Miami came on. I failed to change it for a few minutes. First off, what's with with the annoying sepia tint? Is the whole show like that? Are both of the franchises shot with that filter? Annoying. Second, how the hell does David Caruso have a hit television show? I'm serious. From my brief glimpse I cannot imagine that there's a worse actor working today.

By the time "Won't Get Fooled Again" kicked in I'd moved on. Don't worry. I won't...

You really should try the orignial CSI and no they are not done with a sepia filter. I was excited about CSI Miami when they first starting talking about it but I can not stand it. I don't think the actors are as good nor do they work together as well. I am hoping the new one CSI:NYC will be as good as the original one.

I third that mostion!
By the way, you're really missing out on "24". It is, by far, the best show on television.

CSI Miami-NO
CSI in gerneral, maybe if I am watching TV and nothing else is on...now there going to do a CSI: New York? What next? CSI: Atlanta? CSI: Kalamazoo...Law & Order: Athletes who think they are above the law, Law & Order: Misdemeanors, Law & Order: Traffic Court???Can't some of these shows stop while there ahead? Pretty soon there will be five original shows, a bunch of different locations and different subjects. What a bunch of crap. IF I didn't love Adult Swim, Discovery,CNBC and TLC so much I am pretty sure I would go back to just plain old network TV and DVD's. I don't have any pay channels, but I am sure there are some series there worth watching...Six Feet, etc...

I do admit I have been addicted to 24 since season one...I vowed not to watch after the first season due to bad editing and the timeline thing not working, but I gave it up in order to enjoy a plot that challenges the mind and drama that lets me escape from the real world for a short time.

Speaking of the real world-I AM SO SICK OF REALITY TV I CANNOT STAND IT. Sure, it was great when it first started, but it is now only one step away from "The Truman Show" with this "Todd TV" thing. If there was a way to make a law against it, I would be writing my Congressman now instead of ranting here .

Okay, I am stepping down off my soapbox now.

I actually like CSI: Miami, but don't watch it anymore. I had to cull something from my TV schedule and it got the axe. Unbelievably, I like David Carusso on this show. Perhaps that is because when the show began, he was playing opposite Kim Delaney and she couldn't even pull off the Maytag Repairman role. Blech. Blech. Blech.

I do agree that the cast of the original CSI is much more interesting and works better as an ensemble. And they do shoot both shows with *some* special process. Miami is very warm and Las Vegas is very cool. I've always thought that the theory behind it is the Las Vegas show is about the night shift CSI team. Night scenes in Vegas would tend to have a lot of cool colors. The Miami show is about a day shift team. The DoP draws on the hot climate and the fact that they shoot outside a lot to emphasize a warm palette.

While I'm on the topic of CBS shows, Without a Trace is an entertaining show. The cast works well together and the storylines have been pretty varied so far (perhaps statistically not enough people die, but I prefer the endings where they find the person alive).

I watched 24 the first season, but the second season was too laugh-out-loud ridiculous for me. (Sorry for those who like it.) I started to think I was watching General Hospital ala 1980's when several characters were part of that spy organization. At least then I was 9 and had a reason for believing it.
