random outburst

Look, I'm so busy at work right now that I don't even have time to use the facilities. Okay, okay. I will. That was just for illustrative purposes.

At any rate, please rush out right now and buy the new Fountains of Wayne album, "Welcome Interstate Managers." It's effing brilliant and don't just take my word for it.

How do these @#R#%! things elude me?

I'd like to think I've got my finger on the pulse of good music, but perhaps I am mistaken.

At any rate, thanks for the reminder. I will do so immediately.

No prob. Okay, as a public service, randomness also recommends the new Gillian Welch and the new Eels. We also think we'll be recommending the new Radiohead but the crack staff needs a few more listens. We're still not recommending the Thorns...

So, dearest friend, I take it the CD buying moratorium is off?

By the way...where have you been?!

I heartily agree with the FOW evaluation, although since you brought up the term "spot-the-influence" (re: The Thorns, no less), I have had it stuck in my head. "Supercollider" in particular, is SO Oasis circa 1995. Chris' voice even snarls and growls like Liam Gallagher's. Sounds like: "Champagne Supernova"? Anyone? But in a good way, let me clarify. Also, I just realized last night that "Stacy's Mom" and The Cars' "You Might Think I'm Crazy" are very close cousins. Anyone else pick up on this?

Alright...I have yet to find the elusive white whale that is FoW...but I did check out the two samples @ www.fountainsofwayne.com.

Amazing! All it's done is wet my appetite even more.

Perhaps this weekend.

I picked up on the Cars similarity as well, only I think it's My Best Friend's Girl. Matters not though, Stacy's Mom has been stuck in my all week. I really love Hung Up On You and wonder what a whole album of Fow country would be like.

It seems to me (as I'm actually listening to "Stacy's Mom" right now) that the chorus actually has more than a bit of Journey/Boston mixed in there too.

Good call, btw.
