We're probably all aware of big, user-created databases on the internet. IMDB is probably the most known example. Well, there are a couple of others that are great and could use your help.
Wired on Wheels is a phenomenal idea. You probably never think about it, but restaurants are oftentimes difficult for crips. This is especially true in Manhattan where many, many restaurants have a slew of steps or are so narrow that most people in chairs couldn't get through. If you know me, I'm pretty aggressive. I can get most anywhere. I can't, however, deal with more than a couple of steps. This site allows you to rate restaurants for access so there are no surprises when someone in a chair arrives. A great idea and much better than calling the restaurant because they really have no clue most of the time. So, if you go to a restaurant why not spend .2 seconds thinking about steps and whatnot and then update this page. They need a lot of help and you certainly don't have to be disabled to lend them some opinions.
The Covers Project is a pretty cool idea that I just stumbled onto this afternoon. Basically they're trying to cross-reference artists with artists who have covered their work. I added a couple of Steve Earle covers but, for the most part, they're pretty complete. I'm sure some obscure artists aren't represented very well. See if you can help them, too.
Posted by mikewolf at February 24, 2003 02:36 PMErr... Apparently they are no longer taking additions at The Covers Project. So, uh, don't even try to do so.
Wired on Wheels, though, needs and would love your help...
Posted by: mrw on February 24, 2003 02:49 PMWired on Wheels is a cool idea! I have to confess, though. When you first mentioned "crips" I had a vision of gangstas from LA having trouble getting admitted to NY restaurants.

Yeah, it's a little un-PC but that's the term I normally use.
