So, is that banner off-center to most of you peeps? Look, I'm just a consultant. I don't know what the hell I'm doing. My "Align=Middle" didn't seem to work so I padded the graphic with some blank space. If you're running at a resolution other than 1280x1024 it's gonna look all screwed up, I'm afraid.
So, who can lend me a hand?
I'm not done yet but I need a break. Do you like the colors? I was bored with the grey/red scheme. Thoughts?
Posted by mikewolf at February 22, 2003 02:59 PMI like the colors, but I don't like it when it is so wide...(I don't know the proper term)I have to scroll from left to right and I hate that...and NO I CERTAINLY CANNOT HELP YOU-I;m lucky I can get my e-mail haha.
Posted by: holly on February 22, 2003 06:26 PMHoly - you must be running at 800 x 600 which, unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to pare this thing down to.
Posted by: mrw on February 22, 2003 07:18 PMI like the new colors. I kinda liked the red and black too, I thought it was pleasing to the eye. Is the addition of "Shovel in a little more coal" kinda like chapter two? I like the uncluttered look. And as much as I love the little green budha guy, I kinda really like logging on and seeing your face. Not the grumpy gus face, but the friendly Mike Wolf face I know and love. I think you do an excellent job on your blog and warm colors are your best bet. Anyway, no matter what...lovin' you!!
Posted by: Cassie on February 22, 2003 07:51 PMI dig the colors... but your links in black just look like something you've bold-faced for emphasis. It's very confusing to me (Of course, I confuse easily). The lack of margin space on the comments box is also freaking me out a little.
Hey, do you mind if I put you in my "groovy blogs" link on my blog?
For that matter, does anyone else want to be a "groovy blog" link? I'm a blog-whore... I'll put anybody's link on my blog!
Oh, yeah. I still have to fix that margin. Not gonna be around tomorrow but I'll get to it. It's funny that it bugs so much :-)
I'll see if I can come up with a better color for the links and by all means but me on your page!!
Posted by: mrw on February 22, 2003 11:51 PMnot only will I "but you," I'll also "put you" on it! Ha!
Posted by: K.Britt on February 23, 2003 01:14 AMvery nice. soothing to the eyes and the bold links don't bother me. good job, mike!

Nah. The "shovel in a little more coal" is from a old country song (most famously performed by Johnny Cash) called "The Wreck of the Ol' 97" about a runaway train that seems somehow apropos.
Wreck of The Old 97
Well, they give him his orders at Monroe, Virginia
Sayin', "Steve you're way behind time
This is not Thirty-Eight, this is old Ninety-Seven
You must put her into Spencer on time"
Then he turned and said to his black greasy fireman
"Shovel in a little more coal
And when we cross that white oak mountain
Watch old Ninety-Seven roll"
But it's a mighty rough road from Lynchburg to Danville
In a line on a three mile grade
It was on that grade that he lost his airbrakes
See what a jump he made
He was going down the grade makin' ninety miles an hour
His whistle broke into a scream
He was found in the wreck, with his hand on the throttle
A-scalded to death by the steam
Then a telegram come to Washington station
And this is how it read
"Oh that brave engineer that run old Ninety-Seven
He's a-lyin' in old Danville dead
So now all you ladies you better take a-warnin'
From this time on and learn
Never speak harsh words to your true lovin' husband
He may leave you and never return
I like the new colors, and yes, the title is not centered, but I like it - it doesn't look like a mistake, even if it is one.
But the comments definitely need padding on the left.
