art phags

So I skipped school today to be an art geek. The lovely Maria and I attended the Matthew Barney show at the Guggenheim and it was simply splendiferously surreal. I've seen all of the Cremaster films in dribs and drabs but this was pure art film nirvana. Our only complaint? We only had five hours to spend there and we saw less than half of the pieces. Perhaps a return trip tomorrow if it doesn't rain torrents as promised.

We had to leave in order to trek over to Queens to see the Picasso/Matisse exhibit at MoMA QNS. It, too, was amazing. I always love to take my art geek friends (namely Maria and Dennis) to NYC museums because they tolerate my lingering pace and they know more than I could ever hope to garner. Maria gave me all sorts of insights that I wouldn't have picked up at MoMA.

Further review will be forthcoming. However, the poll over there <---- is neck-and-neck so I don't know where to put my musings. Vote once, vote often, just be sure to vote.

Err... I had no idea whatsoever that Barney was Björk's boyfriend and that they had a kid together. Seriously. Can you imagine the dinner-time conversation between Björk and Matthew Barney? Oh my gawd. That would the best thing ever.
