current obsession

Holy hell. I'm now completely obsessed with Badly Draw Boy's "Silent Sigh" from the "About A Boy" soundtrack.

That's all. As you were.

About a Boy was both a fantastic movie AND book.

Mike, does it make you feel any better to know that I can't get Bob Dylan singing "Queen Jane Approximately" out of my head? It's been going on for a few days now... luckily, I'm a fan or it would drive me bonkers.

I was concerned about the film because I love, love, love Nick Hornby and was afraid that they'd corrupt it like they did "High Fidelity" (a film that I liked nonetheless). I was pleasantly surprised. I liked it muchly.

Liz! I swear that up until yesterday "Isis" was stuck in my little brain for a week. Must be some crazy Bob virus going around.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who felt that way about High Fidelity. I HATED it. And I love Nick Hornby as well, so that was a terrible disappointment.

I thought they did a good job on High Fidelity, the movie. I loved the book, and when I saw they were transposing it to Chicago, I was worried. I thought losing the Brit-flavour might sink it. But I thought they made a great movie, even though I sometimes have qualms about John Cusack.

About A Boy (also loved the book) didn't quite hold up as well, but was enjoyable.

I've liked the films that have stemmed from Hornsby's books (Fever Pitch, HiFi, and About a Boy). I thought John Cusack did a good job, though the lead actress was weak. I guess the films and books are different animals to me. And yes, the About a Boy soundtrack is great.

A film was made based on "Fever Pitch?" Where have I been?!

So was I the only one who had a hard time getting through "How To Be Good?" I liked it. I didn't love it.

The movie version of Fever Pitch is a really fictionalized version; I think Hornby did the adaptation. I know of the film only b/c I have a bit of a crush on Colin Firth in his Arsenal boxer shorts.
