Monday Media

Reading - "Gotham" I'm getting a bit tired of this. May take a break and read something fun. Any suggestions?
Listening - Been on a Steve Earle jag this week. Lots of everything except "Shut Up and Die Like an Aviator" which still makes me cringe.
Watching - Baseball, while I still can.

"Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West" by Gregory Maguire is a great book. Different take on the wizard of oz story.

Haruki Murakami's 'Wind-up Bird Chronicle,' or 'Hard Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World.' I'm just starting his 'Norwegian Wood' now (title seems familar...)

Ok. I guess I can't include links in your comments box. Weird. Anyway...the book in my previous entry is: Wicked: The life and times of the wicked witch of the west.

Also, since you're a baseball fan. You gotta have wa by Robert Whiting. It's about the cultural differences between american and japanese baseball. I found it a good read and I'm no baseball fan.

Patricia -

Thanks for the tips! I read "Wa" a few years ago and really was fascinated by it.

Joel - as our resident Japanese-speaking baseball fan, have you read that?

Also, you can put links up. It just seems that your lame-a$$ host (me) coded the link color the same as the background. Now that's brilliant!! I'll fix it...

links: oh ok. I thought I was doing something wrong.

I really enjoyed Wa. Had to get someone to help me with some of the baseball moments, but overall it was educational.

Read 'The Corrections' by Jonathon Franzen

I read "The Corrections." I thought it was a bit uneven. I found myself really not caring about the parents' story.

I picked up a used copy of "Girl In Landscape" by Jonathan Lethem last night. It's the only one of his books I haven't read. Think I'll start that tonight.
